Home Start, Eye shop opens

One of the activities at Beyond the Wall on a Wednesday is a walking group. This week we all went to Eye, for a short walk around the town, a bit different to our usual countryside walks. But there was another reason for going to Eye.
Home Start this morning had the grand opening of their new charity shop in the centre of Eye, and given that we have plans to do some work together in the coming months, it was good to go along and support them in their celebrations as they opened their doors.

With people doing some baking earlier in the week, we arrived with some of our fabulous lemon drizzle cake and then watched the grand opening speeches.

Home Start are in the position to offer volunteering opportunities of people at Beyond the Wall, it’s great to on the first day of their opening be a part of the community that they will become a valued member of.

The Tour of Britain

With the Tour of Britain coming to East Anglia and passing ten Thornham Estate, we took time out of our busy week of activities to make our way to one of the Estate entrances and set up camp for a couple of hours, in order to watch the event pass by.

All to often big events pass by rural communities, it seems that you need to be in town to take part in the big events, but with the Tour passing by, we were given blow up banners to wave at the cyclists, and even ended up on TV as the live broadcast passed us by.
