With the coming of Autumn we have had a final push at finishing off the chicken coop revamp. In the last stage of sprucing up the old coop and making it ready for use in the spring, we have just added a solid roof, so that over the winter the cockerals that currently live there can stay dry and not end up muddy from the wet of the winter. Importantly the solid roof will ensure that if there are future outbreaks of bird flu, our chickens will be kept away from wild birds and the risk of contamination will be greatly lowered.
A big thank you to everyone who has helped in completing this project, we are sure the chickens will really appreciate their upgraded home and we are all looking forward to fresh eggs when new hens move into the coop in spring.
